What do I need when I pass my state test and what are the fees?
Test Results:
When you successfully complete both portions of the State real estate license examination, you will be given three pages. Two are score reports and the third is the license application. All three are required and must be issued by Prometric, the contracted exam administrator, on their special security paper. There are time limits to when you may apply after passing the examination. Please refer to the Candidate Information Bulletin, or contact the school where you completed your prelicensure education, or the Department.
Prelicensure Education Certificate(s):
This is the yellow form that certifies that you met the prelicensure requirements.
Original Questionnaire:
You will also need to submit an Original Questionnaire Form (LI-214), which requires information about your background and criminal history (if any).
Certificate for Contract Writing or Broker Management Clinic:
If you are a applying for a salesperson's license, you'll need to provide a certificate of attending the 6-hour Introduction to Contract Writing ("Contract Bootcamp") course.
If you are applying for a broker's license, you'll need to provide a course certificate of attending the Broker Management within the preceding 23 months.
Experience Verification - Broker applicants:
Broker applicants have to demonstrate three (3) years actual experience as a real estate agent within the preceding five (5) years. As you begin the broker prelicense courses, fill out and give your current broker the Broker Candidate Experience Verification Form (LI-226). The broker will verify that you were actually practicing real estate, return the form to you for submission to the Department. The Department's determination that you meet the experience requirement takes several weeks, so allow enough time to get the authenticated forms back from the Department before you schedule the test.
Hire Form:
To be "active status" as a salesperson or associate broker you must be employed by a licensed broker and submit a Salesperson / Associate Broker Change Form (LI-202) (filling fee not required).

The License Fee Schedule may be obtained by clicking here or by visiting the Department's website. (Subject to change without notice as statutes or rules change.)
Where can I attend Continuing Education classes?
Real estate licensees may attend classes at ADRE-approved real estate schools. Some of these schools offer "distance learning courses", which can be taken on your computer or over the internet.
How do I report my Continuing Education Courses to the Department?
Log onto the Department’s website at https://az.gov/webapp/dre and select the option to record Continuing Education (CE) credits. Enter the ADRE course numbers and dates of the CE classes taken during the current CE Period. If filing for renewal within one year after the license expiration date (the "grace year"), you may enter continuing education classes taken during the last 24 months of your license period or during the grace year.
The course number and dates appear on CE certificates issued to you by licensed real estate schools upon your completion of an ADRE-approved course. If the system returns an error message and you have verified that the information you entered matches what is on your certificate, contact the issuing school to verify the course number and credit category.
Please note the following:
Broker pre-license education courses may be used for online renewal only by a broker for the first renewal of the broker’s license.
To renew your real estate license you MUST have certificates for ALL of the required courses and categories.
Filing a false or misleading application is grounds for license revocation or suspension, and assessment of a civil penalty.
You must complete and enter all the required hours for one CE period before any courses are attributed to a subsequent CE period. You cannot enter CE for more than one CE period at a time.
The course number from each certificate should be entered only one (1) time, even if it covers more than one (1) category.
If your business is exclusively commercial properties and you are claiming a substitute for the fair housing requirement, you must contact the department at licensing@azre.gov before renewing your license.
Can I have some of my Continuing Education credits waived for other education I attended?
All Continuing Education credit applicable to licensing renewals must be pre-approved with the Department to be applicable.
I am a licensee in another state, can any of my education I have already completed for my out of state licensure be applied to either a new license or renewal of a license?
All pre-licensing and/or Continuing Education credit applicable to licensing renewals must be pre-approved with the Department to be applicable.
What if I am unable to complete my Continuing Education classes but want to renew my license?
Original licensees have two years in which to attend the required continuing education (CE) classes. After the initial two year period, licenses are renewed for four years, and are separated into two 24 month continuing education (CE) periods. Only for good cause, the Commissioner MAY grant additional time to complete the classes you lack or, in rare cases, may waive some or all of the continuing education classes required for license renewal. (Review R4-28-402(B) in the Law Book.) Submit your written request and, as applicable, corroborating documents to the Education Division for review BEFORE your license expiration date. (Be sure to state the reason for the request, how many CE hours you have acquired, and how much time you anticipate needing to fully meet the requirement.) If approved, you will be given an approval letter to attach to your renewal application. You must submit the application and approval letter to the Department a minimum of 60 days prior to your license expiration date.
Generally, good cause is either a long-term condition or situation not within your control which prevented you from completing classes, or something sudden and unexpected which prevented you from completing your CE. If your request (for waiver or extension) is denied, you must comply with the statutory requirement for CE classes in order to submit your application for license renewal.
With CE courses now approved to be offered by distance learning methods (interactive online or computer-based training), most people can complete the required course work, even when health or other issues prevent them from participating in more traditional, live instruction classes.
Can I get an extension on my license renewal?
The Department does not have the authority to change your license expiration date and "extend" your license period. If you are seeking additional time to complete your continuing education (CE) classes, read the "What if I am unable to complete my Continuing Education classes but want to renew my license?" FAQ.
I am less than one year past my expiration date, what are the requirements to get my license reinstated?
Complete the continuing education requirements.
Submit your education to the Department online.
Submit your completed renewal application online, in person or by mail.
Pay renewal fees with late fees **
I have gone more than one year past my expiration date. What can I do to get my license reinstated?
If your prelicensing education was completed less than 10 years ago you must submit a statement requesting recertification of prelicensure education. This is a 2-3 week review. Contact the Licensing Division and you will receive the necessary documents.
I have successfully completed the internet-based ethics training conducted by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS at REALTOR.org. Does the Arizona Department of Real Estate recognize this course toward continuing education?
The National Association of Realtors® is not a "licensed school" with the Arizona Department of Real Estate. Only courses taught by/through licensed schools qualify for credit toward Continuing Education (CE).
